Research Paper

1      1. Specific question I propose to answer for my final research paper: I propose for my final research paper, the question of...."Are there more negative or positive psychological affects on receiving plastic surgery?"
2.     2. My working thesis...In the end I am trying to prove whether or not people do what they do more for themselves or for others and how they will be affected about what they decide to do to their bodies.
3.     3. An overview of what I currently know about the issue...I know plastic surgery is the attempted solution for many people with low self esteem about themselves or people that are unhappy with their certain body parts or even if other people are influences on what they think of their bodies. It is also a matter of a cultural issue on what is proper to do or look like. These procedures done along with many are very risky whenever you use anesthetics. Also many people do not realize what they are getting themselves into because doctors do not tell you the 100% truth how you are going to look and feel afterwards. And about the fact that there is a very high percentage of people that have depression issues after these surgeries are done. This is because patients have this surgery to look better and in the healing process you look worse then when you came in in the first place. The pain killers and anesthetics also plays a role in the depressive feeling. Anesthetics stay in your system for up to about three weeks after the surgery.
4.     4. An overview of what I need to find out about the issue…I need to find out in psychologically in any way if there are any extreme positive-long lasting affects on getting plastic surgery. The reason why I want to know this is because so many times people who go in under the knife for plastic surgery end up coming back for more and more because as you keep aging, things keep changing more and more. Gravity takes place and the aging process never stops. People will always see things that they think “need” to be fixed and I just wonder if through that whole process how people beat themselves up in their mind is in any way possible.
5.    5. A list of arguments which oppose the one you plan to make…I plan on making an argument on both how plastic surgery is positive on the bodies pyschy and how it is negative. Also how influential people are around the people who want to get plastic surgery and that people need to be a strong support system rather than forcing anyone into doing something by giving them degrading words about themselves.
6.  A list of sources you have looked at on my topic at this point…So far I have used ebscohost and multiple medical sites on the internet. I also looked at some articles and interviews as well.

plagiarism

Growing up in the start of every English class and every class where there is expected to be some sort of paper/papers to be written, we are bombarded with the scared notion of “plagiarism”. When you are younger I do not think that plagiarism and stealing some ones work really goes hand in hand. Now that I am older and really have had time to sit down and think about it I compare plagiarism with me making up something first in my group of friends whether it’s a saying an idea or whatever and then having another friend in the group taking what I said and trying to make it as though they made it up themselves. I would surely be pissed and in the same context if an author was reading a paper and saw his or her work in it while being united I realize how that can hurt them as well. Because at some point they were sitting down somewhere working their ass off trying to make something to publish and then someone is going to take there knowledge for free in a split second just from copying and pasting and finagling a couple words from the author to make it seem like its their own. Plagiarism in the end is just straight up wrong and I learned from the handout on different forms of plagiarism that sometimes you may do it and not even realize it, but even then it should be fixed, cited properly and you should never say ideas are your own when they are someone else’s no matter what.
